Italianissimo Bread

8 porções

- 8 small round pieces of Italian bread (300 g)

- 1 bunch chives (80 g)

- 1 piece Tirolez Provolone Smoked Cheese (300 g)

- 1 package of Tirolez Unsalted Butter (200 g)

Modo de Preparo

With a very sharp bread knife, cut 1-inch thick “false slices” into the bread (without separating the slices, so the pieces of bread remain whole). Then cut more “false slices,” perpendicular to the previous slices. At the end of this process, you should have whole pieces of bread with a cross-hatched/checkerboard pattern on top.

Finely chop the onions and spread over the pieces of bread, between the cross-hatching as well.

Using a sharp knife, cut the piece of cheese in half to form two semi-circles. Then remove thin slices (about 0.2 cm).

Place 1 slice of Provolone Smoked with the peel facing up into each opening in the bread.

Spread half the butter on the breads and bake in the preheated oven (180°C/350°F) for 30 minutes, spreading the rest of the butter after 15 minutes.

Serve as an appetizer, by detaching the cubes of bread as you eat. Then, when there are no more cubes left, you can break the bottom with your hands or with a knife.
